Remembering the feeling of day after day of hot sun and warm, humid air like we have in North Carolina. These are the kind of days that you wish would never end. This painting makes me think of the smell of peonies in the summer heat. Those sunny days that it seems like they should wither, but somehow they become even more vibrant with the lush moisture that they hold with in themselves.  Recharged  by the sun, the flowers seem to reflect the sun beams, while remaining shaded in some areas. The butterflies seem to love this type of day as they bask in the sun, fluttering about. It’s a reminder to me that when the heat is on me, I can still recharge like the flowers. Painted on canvas in acrylic.

“Sunny Day” 36x48.

“Spring” 48X36

I’m not always calm. At times, I can be a very high energy person. Looking at this painting calms me down and seems full of peace.  The natural, warm colors allow the mind to center on peace and calm. The butterflies even seem calm, not fluttering frantically, but simply floating along. Painted on canvas in acrylic paint.

The yellow rose was inspired by some flowers that my husband bought home one day. I thought they were so beautiful ! I imagined them growing in the garden

Yellow Rose 36x48

Boundaries are so important in our lives. Boundaries are what freedom is made of this painting is symbolic of boundaries. Many people think of boundaries as limitations. However, it’s quite the opposite. When we set boundaries in our lives, we are opened up to all the possibilities that life has to offer.

“The View” 36”x48”

This painting came out of a trip to the Shenandoah mountain range in Virginia. It’s one of the most beautiful places that I’ve been to in this world. I was inspired to paint this while standing in the breezes of this magnificent place.

“Shenandoah” 30X26

This was inspired by roses given to me as a beautiful symbol of love. The red rose has been a symbol of true romantic love  for a long time.

My art journey began when my children were babies. When they went to sleep, I began reading  books about how to create drawings. I dabbled a bit with charcoal drawings and colored pencils. I created a few pieces that I was proud of, and then I put  my art projects away for many years.  To make a long story short; My children grew up and my husband and I started having some adventures.

Well, during one of these adventures, I was in a zip-line accident. Eventually, it became evident that I had injured my back pretty severely. I had to quit my career as a real estate professional and I began the healing process.

If you have ever had a back injury, you understand that it can be a very painful and emotional journey. During this time, I ordered some painting supplies and began taking on-line classes to learn how to paint.  This helped take my mind off of the pain and I found that I have a talent and a love for the artistic process.  The satisfaction of creating beautiful works of art kept me  learning.  It  helped me tremendously during this healing time.

With every painting, I prayed for healing and relief.  I continued to pray through out the entire  time.  I loved this quiet time with God and the art that emerged was something unexpected and unexplainable. My art carries a calming and peaceful  feeling with it.

Today, I continue to paint  and have found my own style and fondness for my work.  It’s not something I would have ever dreamed of in the past, but it was, and is, God’s plan.  I’ve been lead to start my own art business  and I absolutely love it! I’m a passionate painter with the last name of Pickle, who knew. (Ha, Ha) So, I hope that you love my art work and understand that every piece I make is unique and very special. If you’ve read this far, thank you and may God bless.
