This painting is also known as "Back Yard Buddy". My husband used to feed the birds and squirrels in our backyard. This cardinal use to get there first and then fly back into the brush. As time went by, he began to stay longer and longer just sitting on the fence staring at us with that eye. It got to the point that whenever we visited the backyard, there he came just to listen to us talk and maybe hope for another nut. He either sat on the fence or a nearby tree, but was always around. We got used to him being around and named him our back yard buddy.
